An app to prove one's identity
Digital processes are now widely used, further accelerated by the health crisis. In this context, the need for digital identification and authentication has become a daily necessity. This is why the French government launched the interministerial program 'France Digital Identity' in 2018, driven by the ministries of the Interior, Justice, and the Secretary of State for Digital Affairs, tasked with designing and implementing a digital identification solution for all citizens. The program is developing this solution in the form of a smartphone application, available starting March 2022 for all individuals with the new identity card.
Of sovereign digital identity
Following a large consultation, the communication agency Hula Hoop was selected to assist government services with the full implementation of the French digital identity. Indeed, the new French identity card now contains a chip that will grant access to numerous digital services or online identity verification. Ultimately, the 'product' will be an app allowing individuals to prove their identity online and manage the sharing of their identity data.
Although this app provides a genuinely useful service, it represents a sensitive transformation project. Not because of what it concretely offers, but because of the data it handles, which, despite all the precautions for confidentiality and respect for personal data, will inevitably spark debate.
